Making text boxes
By Ali | July 1, 2008
Could it really be that easy? I spent some time today revamping my personal blog over on homeschoolblogger. For a while, I have been frustrated with how fast a sidebar can clutter. I have tried click menus (which are cool but can be complicated), and plain sidebar titles. But it still seemed cluttered to me.
Today I discovered scrolling text boxes! I put two of them in, and viola! Instant organization.
Here is the code:
<div style=”border: 3px solid black; overflow: auto; height: 100px; width: 150px; color: black; background-color: white;”>Replace these words with your graphics, or text</div>
Sometimes things look more difficult than they really are.

From a free wordpress to a hosted wordpress
By Ali | June 28, 2008
Switching a free wordpress over to a hosted wordpress, is tricky. But it can be done! I have been able to learn how to do just this over the last week while working with Traveling Mamas. The one thing I have found that is the most important thing to do, is to back up your free wordpress blog. You can do this by clicking the export button. You click export, and you are able to save your blogs xml page to your computer.
After getting yourself hooked up with a hosting account (such as godaddy), and get your wordpress intalled into your domain, you can then easily import the saved xml page onto your new blog. Viola! All of your posts, archives, and things from your old blog are now installed onto your new one inside your domain.
